How Qu-Chat Works
No servers storing your data. No backdoors. No compromise. Just pure peer-to-peer communication secured with quantum-resistant cryptography.
Quantum-Resistant Encryption
Your messages are protected with NIST-approved ML-KEM-768 (Kyber), making them safe against both classical and quantum computers.
Decentralized Storage
Messages are stored across a peer-to-peer network —no central servers, no single point of failure.
Wallet-Based Identity
Your Web3 wallet is your identity—no phone numbers, no email addresses, no personal data collected.
Message Encryption Flow
Generate Quantum-Safe Keys
When you connect your wallet, Qu-Chat generates a Kyber768 key pair (1,184 byte public key, 2,400 byte private key). Your public key is shared on the network, your private key never leaves your device.
Encrypt Your Message
When you send a message, Qu-Chat retrieves the recipient's public key from the network, performs Kyber key encapsulation to create a shared secret, then encrypts your message with AES-256-GCM.
Store on Decentralized Network
The encrypted message (including the Kyber ciphertext) is stored on the database owned by the peer-to-peer network. No central server can access your plaintext.
Recipient Decrypts
The recipient uses their private key to perform Kyber decapsulation, derives the same shared secret, and decrypts the message with AES-256-GCM. Only the intended recipient can read the message.
